A scanner starts a decision rather than completing it

Trade Ideas belongs in a scanner and trading-software comparison. A scan surfaces instruments matching conditions. The user still needs a reason to enter, an order interpretation, a sizing rule and a way to handle the position. Comparing a scanning subscription with a pick service solely by a star score loses this distinction.

Write down the job you want the scan to perform. You might want to identify stocks meeting a volume condition, organise a watchlist or monitor a repeated setup. Those are more useful purchase criteria than the promise of finding more trades. Extra opportunities can make a workflow worse when there is no rule for rejecting unsuitable candidates.

The current Standard and Premium price comparison

The inspected table lists Standard at $127 monthly or $1,068 annually, and Premium at $254 monthly or $2,136 annually. It distinguishes the plan feature sets. The annual equivalents shown on the page should not be presented as monthly billed subscriptions; the upfront amount and purchased period differ.

For an illustrative unchanged-price comparison, twelve Standard monthly payments total $1,524, which is $456 above the listed annual purchase. Premium monthly payments total $3,048, $912 above the listed annual amount. Those calculations compare billing choices, not economic returns. A discount is only useful if the plan remains useful throughout the prepaid period.

Inspect the feature you would actually use

The product guide is useful because it describes the components of the workflow, including alerts, filters and paper trading. Match those components to your intended job before selecting a plan. A capability listed in Premium does not justify buying Premium when the decision you need is already addressed by a simpler scan.

Plan an evaluation around a small, defined set of scan conditions. Record how many candidates appear, which are rejected and why. Keep the same conditions across the sample. Changing filters after seeing successful charts creates an evaluation that is difficult to reproduce and makes an apparent scanner advantage hard to interpret.

Signal performance and account execution

A platform-generated opportunity may have a model or simulation result attached to it. Ask which decision rules, costs and price assumptions produced that result. The outcome of clicking an order later can differ from the simulation, and a rejected or partially filled order needs to remain part of a subscriber evaluation.

For a realistic illustration, two traders can receive the same scan result and make different decisions. One places a limit order that never fills; the other crosses the spread. Their resulting account records are not the same sample. A platform screen does not resolve that difference unless the evaluation explicitly models it.

Billing, separate add-ons and cancellation

The inspected billing policy describes recurring subscriptions and cancellation at the end of the current billing period. It treats cancellation as preventing a future invoice, rather than automatically refunding a paid period. Check the policy and accepted invoice before interpreting a cancel-anytime label as a money-return promise.

The policy also addresses separately billed add-ons. Record each item you purchase and confirm which cancellation affects it. A trader who stops the main subscription should not assume that every separate product has stopped renewing. Saving the confirmation and reviewing the next expected charge is part of evaluating the total cost.

Best-fit decision and limitations of this review

This is a reasonable category to inspect when scanning is a repeated part of your process and you can explain how each candidate becomes a trading decision. It is a weaker fit when you mainly need a single research thesis or cannot spend time filtering opportunities. The value lies in an integrated workflow that you can actually use.

SPR has inspected the public documentation for this edition, without claiming a paid test, measured alert latency or a profitable customer account. Compare Trade Ideas with TradingView for the distinction between discovery scans and monitoring selected conditions, and with news software for the distinction between price conditions and information events.

Our assessment

A useful scanner-software shortlist entry with inspectable plan and billing documents. Select a plan around the scan workflow you need; neither the AI label nor the number of alerts proves account profitability.
